On Monday, April 13, 2020, Charles Michael Nothdurft, husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 55. Charles Michael Nothdurft, known as Chuck, was born on January 18, 1965 to Don and Elvira Nothdurft; he was the 7th of 8 children. He went to Madison High School and graduated in 1983. Following high school, he attended University of the Pacific and graduated in 1987 with a Bachelors degree in English. He then went on to obtain a teaching credential in English from San Diego State University in 1990. Teaching, Chuck decided was not a career for him, so he went to work for SAIC as a technical writer in 1990. He worked at SAIC until 2012 and then worked for DEXCOM as data base management and support starting in 2013 to the present.
Chuck met his wife, Hilda Desiree Santiago at a mutual friend’s
house warming party in February 1990. They dated for five years until Chuck proposed; he proposed to her at the Happiest Place on Earth (Disneyland) in July 1995. They were married a year later on October 18, 1996. They have two sons, Benjamin Hernando, born May 12, 2000 and Charles Michael, Jr., born May 15, 2004.
Chuck will be remembered for his positive attitude, his boisterous laugh and theatrics, beautiful singing voice, his generosity and kindness, and his willingness to help anyone in need; if anything needed to be done or if someone needed help, he would be the first one in line. While dating Hilda, he was an active member of the Miramar Catholic Church serving as a cantor and a member of the choir. After leaving Miramar Catholic Church,
he became an active member of Saint Gregory Catholic church, where he and Hilda served as altar servers.
He was a well-known person in the community of Mira Mesa, where he was very active with the Boy Scouts and a devoted volunteer for the Mira
Mesa High School band; he was Cub Master of Pack 1209 in 2014-2015, Scout Master of Troop 1212 in 2017, and was in charge of parking for the Band Festival at Mira Mesa High School.
Chuck was a devoted father; he could be seen at all of his sons’ boy scouting events, band performances, and baseball games. Chuck is survived by his wife, Hilda, his two sons, Benjamin and Charles Jr, his parents, Don and Elvira Nothdurft, his siblings, Paula Eberle, Mary Kober (David), Don Nothdurft, Jr, Gerard (Tony) Nothdurft (Diana), Anna Nothdurft, Rebecca Decker (Harold), and John Nothdurft (Sunisa), his nieces and nephews, Dale Eberle, Jeana Cashin (Mike), Dustin Kober, Derek Kober, Monica Nothdurft, Kimberly Nothdurft, Angela Fasching (Brett), Danny Aguilar (Trish),
