MMTC Meeting December 7th Features MMHS Musical Performance, MMMAD Vote, and “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” Shout-outs

The Mira Mesa Town Council meeting on December 7, 2020, starting at 7pm via Zoom and Facebook
Live, will begin with musical entertainment by Mira Mesa High School students, as the December MMTC
traditionally does. However, this year the program will be virtual. According to Mira Mesa High School
choir director Marielena Teng, a small group of students is preparing a performance which will be pre-
recorded and shown at the beginning of the meeting.

Following the students’ program, the main business December 7 will be a vote by the MMTC
membership on approval of the Mira Mesa Maintenance Assessment District FY 2022 budget, as
presented by MMMAD Committee chair Tom Derr. The budget is posted at

The December 7 meeting will also feature a time for Shout-Outs to “Neighbors Helping Neighbors.”
It’s a time when people can give brief “shout outs” (1 – 2 minutes) to Mira Mesa residents/local
businesspeople they know who have volunteered/helped the community, especially during Mira Mesa’s
recent pandemic experience.

Do you know someone who has volunteered making and distributing masks? Spent time delivering
meals? Helped the homebound? Volunteered tracking down information and keeping people
connected? Been someone who’s gone “above and beyond” in serving the public or helping a neighbor
in any of a myriad of ways during this stressful time? MMTC members and the public alike are
encouraged to give a “Shout Out” at the December 7 meeting to a Mira Mesa resident or local worker
you’d like to honor.

Finally, the December MMTC meeting traditionally adjourns a bit early for seasonal refreshments and
fellowship. While it’s not possible for us to gather together in one place for that this year, if the formal
meeting is not too lengthy, MMTC hopes to keep the Zoom room open a little longer for anyone who
would enjoy lingering a bit for some informal cheer. We suggest you have some sparkling cider or other
favorite beverage on hand to toast the season and celebrate our community and each other!
