Under the guidance of the CA Department of Public Health and San Diego County’s Public Health Officer, the San Diego Public Library will be closed until further notice. Programs and events at the library are cancelled until further notice, although virtual events, such as meetings of the Mira Mesa Library’s monthly book group, the Banned Book Club, are taking place and announcements posted on the Mira Mesa Library Facebook page. Summer Reading Program has finished up. If you have logged 10 books or 10 hours of reading, you can come pick up your prize bag Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Participants will receive a coupon for the free book prize. Hold on to the coupon to choose a book when we reopen. Prize bags will be available for pick up through September 30th, 2020.
Contactless Pickup Service
Contactless Outdoor Pickup Service is available Monday through Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Mira Mesa Library as well as 17 other branch locations. Patrons may place holds online at http://www.sandiegolibrary.org to pick up at designated outdoor Pickup Service locations. Please refer to the hold pick up notice email for the deadline to pick up your items. After that date, your item(s) will be placed back on the shelves. Please visit http://www.sandiego.gov/pickupservice for a list of Pickup Service locations as well as a Step- by-Step guide. We ask patrons who use this service to please wear facial covering and maintain 6 feet of social distance from others. Refrain from using service if you have a cough or fever, and avoid engaging in unnecessary physical contact with visitors and staff.

The Mira Mesa Branch Library is not carrying tax forms this year. However, we’re referring patrons to the Poway Community Library (13137 Poway Rd, Poway, CA 92064; 858-513-2900) and the North University Community Library 8820 Judicial Dr, San Diego, CA 92122; (858-581-9637). They both carry the federal 1040 forms + instructions and the state 540 and 540EZ forms. Please call the library for availability and check their operating hours. Banned Book Club
Banned Book Club will meet via ZOOM on Tuesday, March 30 at 6:30 p.m. The book club will discuss If On A Winter’s Night a Traveler, by Italo Calvino, a metafictional novel where the reader becomes a character who starts to read a book and later meet
another character whom you fall in love with. The Mira Mesa Branch Library is holding 2 copies.
