MMTC Honors Scholarship Winners and City Councilmember Chris Cate Speaks June 7!

The Mira Mesa Town Council, Mira Mesa’s non-profit volunteer civic group, invites everyone interested to attend the Mira Mesa Town Council meeting via Zoom this Monday evening, June 7, 2021.

On the agenda will be:
-Awarding of the three 2021 Mira Mesa Town Council/Verne Goodwin Scholarships: MMTC Scholarship Committee Chair Eric Kolbeck will introduce the graduating high school seniors who are this year’s scholarship winners. Each will receive a $1,000 college scholarship.

The 2021 scholarship winners are:
Marianne Aquino
Sharlene Lorenzo
Valerie Tran

They were selected from an outstanding group of applicants by the MMTC scholarship committee based on their volunteer experience and work. The winners have each worked throughout their high school years to give back to the community in many ways, while maintaining excellent grades and participating in numerous extracurricular activities. Each of the winners will have an opportunity at the MMTC meeting to say a few words about themselves, their volunteer work, and their plans for the future. San Diego 6th District City Councilmember Chris Cate will join in the awards ceremony and give an update from City Hall afterwards.

-Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve user education project and invitation to complete user survey
-Mira Mesa community update by MMTC president Bari Vaz
-Reports from MMTC committees and other community groups, as well as elected officials’ representatives
-Open forum
