Friends of the Mira Mesa Library Book Sale

Saturday, January 29th, 11am – 5pm at Front Courtyard

Come to the Friends of the Mira Mesa Library’s monthly outdoor book sale! There will be plenty of children’s books, fiction and non-fiction, DVDs, and CDs on sale for a great price! Cash only and rounding up is greatly appreciated. All proceeds support programming at the Mira Mesa Library.

 

VIRTUAL Mira Mesa Town Council Meeting

Monday, January 3rd, 7pm – 9pm on ZOOM

The Mira Mesa Town Council current meets on ZOOM. Go to www.miramesatowncouncil.org and look for the August Meeting agenda for the link to register. Town Council meets on the first Monday of every month with two exceptions: no meeting in July; and the second Monday if the first Monday is a holiday.

Beyond the Playground Storytime @ Mira Mesa Community Park North

Every Wednesday, 10:30am – 11:30am at the Mira Mesa Community Park North

Join us Beyond the Playground at the picnic area of the Park and Rec Center for a fun hour of songs and stories with Ms. Hazel.  Bring chairs or blankets and enjoy this summertime treat.  All ages are welcome. No registration required. This event is held at the Mira Mesa Community Park North across the street from the Library and the Fire Station.

Conversational ESL

Every Wednesday, 12pm – 1pm at the Outer Patio

Join us at our courtyard for casual, friendly conversation designed to increase participants’ comfort with the English language and make new friends.

 

Chess Club for all ages

Every Thursday, 3pm – 5pm in the Outdoor Patio

All levels of Chess experience are welcome – beginners to advanced.

The Green Thumbs: A Children’s Garden Club

Second and Fourth Friday of the month (January 14th and 28th), 10am – 11am at the Outdoor Patio

Exposure to nature through play leads to exploration and discovery, engaging both the physical and mental abilities of children. This program is for kids to learn about the environment, gardening and how to care for the earth!

For 18 months – 8 years of age. No registration is required. However Parent must attend with child.

Paws to Read

First and Third Saturday of the month (January 15th ), 11am – 12pm at the Outdoor Patio

Join us for the return of Therapy Dogs to the Library! Children are invited to read to and interact with certified therapy dogs to build reading confidence.

 

VIRTUAL Banned Book Club via ZOOM: The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood

Tuesday, January 25th from 6:30pm-8pm on ZOOM

Please join other book loving community members for the monthly meeting of the Banned Book Club.  This month we will be reading The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell. There will 2 copies held for book members at the library. If they like to join the discussion, please have patrons email book club facilitator Pam Stevens at pstevens@san.rr.com to get the ZOOM link no later than Sunday, January 23rd.
